I’ve always thought marketing is a lot like dating. Allow me to explain.

First, you put out the “single vibe” and wait to see what happens in the dating “marketplace.” However, as soon as you decide to start looking for a partner, it seems all viable candidates disappear. So you work harder at becoming more desirable and it gets worse, and desperation sets in. Soon enough you find yourself going out with anyone that looks friendly and has a pulse.

In 1923, Claude Hopkins, one of the greatest copywriters who ever lived, wrote about the idea of using psychological triggers in advertising to increase sales. Hopkins concluded in his renowned book Scientific Advertising that “Human nature does not change“…”In most respects, Human Nature is the same today as it was in the time of Caesar”.
