Many of us have grown up in the age of travel, travelling the world is much easier now than it ever has been and more of us are travelling further and further afield. We now visit places that 20 years ago we could only have dreamed of visiting, and then we return home wondering about what if we could live in a different country? Where would we go and what would we do, I would imagine that for the majority of people the places that they visit on their holidays are much more exciting than their home town. Because it is getting so much easier to get to far of places and the lines of communication are so much better it is so much easier for us to imagine living in a foreign land and getting away from the rat race, and not necessarily to earn more money, the vast majority of people who contemplate moving abroad site a change of lifestyle as the main reason for wanting to move. In a recent study, a number of Relocation Professionals were asked about their company’s working relationship with staff members on foreign assignment. With over 200 responses, when asked “What aspects of working in China and India were most difficult for their foreign staff,” 31% of the respondents cited “a disconnection from their head office communication and culture.”

Bridging communication with overseas employees may seem like a difficult roadblock to overcome. But with a little creativity, a wealth of tools and information can be utilized by both Relocation Professionals and foreign staff members.
