Ever needed help in making a point in your article? Quotes, illustrations, and case studies can do that for you.

Finding the right quote, illustration, or case helps you set the proper mindset for your readers to accept the points you make. You are then free to continue sharing your thoughts because your readers are ready to receive them. The perfect quote, illustration, or case study ties everything together for your readers in a fresh, new way.

If you want to encourage your readers to overcome the fear of doing something new, use Annie Gottlier’s quote - “It’s so hard when I have to, and so easy when I want to.” Hopefully, the quote will accomplish the purpose of shifting the mindsets and perspectives of your readers.

For readers who are slow to accept change or refuse to change, how do you think they would respond to Alvin Toffler’s quote? - “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

Illustrations are another powerful tool article writers should have in their tool box. When using illustrations, use words that paint pictures in the minds of your readers. Don’t be too specific, allow room for your readers to take the illustration and apply it to their lives.

Here’s an illustration some beginning writers may find helpful. “When writing articles, use a tree as a guide. Let the tree trunk be your base, it represents your subject, the idea for your article. But having an idea by itself is useless, just as a tree trunk with no branches or leaves. Give your tree life, add branches and leaves. The branches on your tree represent the points you make in your articles. Leaves are the examples you use to help your readers understand the points you’ve made. A tree with a trunk, branches, and leaves is alive. So is your article when you have a subject, points, and examples.”

Case studies are also an excellent way to explain factual information to your readers. Psychologists, marketers, scientists, and others use case studies to support the points they make. They take data and explain it in a way that justifies the points they make to persuade readers to accept what they are saying. Most of the time it works. Consumers are constantly buying “new” and “improved.”

Read a case study in your niche. Did it persuade you to change your mindset or perspective?

When writing articles try including a quote, illustration, or case study. It may give an extra sparkle to your articles.
